Who Cares?!

Tbookinbed 300x256 Who Cares?!his may come off as hypocritical considering the nature of this blog but, hear me out for a second…I don’t understand this mania over celebrities.

They are simply people who have chosen a particular craft such as acting, singing or baseball.  Does that give the general public the right to know EVERYTHING about them from who they’re romantically involved with to what kind of underwear they wear.

Seriously. I say “Who cares!?”

Don’t get me wrong, that are many actors, actresses, musicians and athletes that I respect and admire. What I wouldn’t give to pick the brain of the likes of Ani DiFranco, Amos Lee or David Byrne…but that does not mean I want to know the inner workings of their personal life.

My interest is in their craft, their artistry, their creative process.

So the real point of this post, other than getting something off of my chest, is to share with my future readers what this blog is really all about.

This blog is about my appreciation of the artist, the storyteller, the actor and the film maker.

When I am reading a new book or an old favorite for the umpteenth time I am looking for an escape from my reality. I am looking to be swept away to another time and place for a few hundred pages.

When I am watching a movie that’s based on new book or an old favorite,  I am looking to see if the film maker’s vision is like the pictures I formed in my own mind. Are the actors and actresses fair representations of the characters in the book? Did the producer respect the authors story line or did they take the authors vision to inspire their own?

What this blog is not about is any gossip nor is it about the box office numbers.

This blog is about the art of storytelling and my appreciation for it. I hope you enjoy it!
